A Poem-A-Day Challenge is hosted by
White Fields Press and the PWE Community
every year in April.
Entries are considered for publication
in the annual poetry challenge compilation.
Hosted by White Fields Press, the PWE Writing Community is for conservative Christian writers of all ages and stages. We welcome creators of all formats from poetry to prose and nonfiction.
The PWE Community offers Weekend Writing Prompts to help spark your imagination and whet your creative appetite. You can get prompts delivered directly to your inbox.
White Fields Press publishes compilations of selected poetry from our challenges, featuring members of the community, and providing even the youngest poets a platform for recognition and readers a treasury of captivating verse.
As the shortest month of the year, February is bestowed with the honor of celebrating the shortest poetic work. In simplistic American terms, a haiku is a 3 line poem with 17 syllables. The first line has 5, the second line has 7, and the third line has 5. Haiku is actually a Japanese poetic form, and syllables in the Japanese language are different. You can find more information at the official National Haiku Writing Month website: www.nahaiwrimo.com
While the 5-7-5 format taught in American grade schools is discouraged on their site, we welcome your creative expression using this format..
